"A sweet solution to our customer's sugar processing needs"
The final step in sugar processing is the cooling process which results in a product ready for storage and transport.
Advancements in the sugar processing industry have led to a much more efficient sugar cooling process which uses less than 10% of the energy than the previous fluid bed coolers and rotary drum coolers.
The new process uses a heat exchanger, where the sugar flows vertically between a series of hollow stainless steel plates that are cooled by cold water flowing through the opposite side of the plate.
The product does not come into contact with air or water, it is cooled by conduction and so the risk of bacterial or moisture contamination is prevented.
The LAUDA chillers are used as part of this process to provide accurate cold water flow through the heat exchanger.
